Summer where are you?

This was our morning. At 6:30 I was rocking Will in his room and heard this horrible creaking cracking sound followed by a huge crash. I imaginged the worst since all night we heard gusts up to 50 mph. Thankfully it didn't do more damage than a future gutter replacement and blocking the driveway. According to the weather forecast it might not be over. The next few days are all over the place with wind, freezing rain and wacky temps. Ugh summer can't come fast enough to Gibson Place.

Just like Dad

So in my never ending quest to refrain from using swear words in 2008 (another resolution gone to hell within the first two days of January), I dropped the phrase "doesn't know shit from shinola" the other day. I've used this phrase on and off many times, but Tom couldn't stop laughing the other day. "That sounds like a Bill reference where did you pick THAT up!?!?" Well yes, it did come from my dad. But the best part is thanks to Google its actually a real phrase!!!! Growing up my dad would string a bunch of obscenities together. The more colorful the obscenity, the more punctuated his frustration was behind it. Man I'm still laughing this one actually has a history behind it. Here I always thought it was totally made up. Ah thanks Google for clearing up some confusing childhood moments!

You don't know shit from Shinola!

Chapped Lips

I had to run and grab the camera to catch this on tape. If you look closely Will has a tube of Chap Stick and applies it gingerly to his lips while rocking in the chair. I couldn't stop quietly laughing.

Happy New Year! (a month later)

Well things are finally back to "normal" over here from the holidays. The students are back from break and classes started Monday. Which means I can relax a bit and don't have to be at the cafe every single day standing on my feet waiting on customers (which I might add were extra wacky while the kids were away).

Christmas was good - we were able to get home for what basically amounted to two days. Each time I wanted to grab my camera I missed out on some great moments. But I do have a few pictures....
